Real screens from Prau — nothing staged.
Airplane mode on — the phrase is translated and voiced entirely on the iPhone. One continuous take, no cuts.
Privacy is the design, not a setting
Most translators send your voice to a server. Prau doesn't have one.
Stays on your iPhone
- Everything you say and hear
- Everything you type
- Photos, PDFs and the recognized text
- Your conversation history and search
- Conversation summaries (Apple Intelligence, on device)
Leaves your iPhone
- Your subscription status — an anonymous ID and the App Store receipt, checked through RevenueCat so the app knows Pro is active. Nothing else.
- No accounts, no sign-in.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking SDKs.
- No servers of our own — there is nowhere to upload to.
- Built only on Apple's on-device frameworks: Speech, Translation, Vision, AVFoundation.
- Delete a conversation, or all of them, at any time. Delete the app — the history goes with it.

Where Prau goes further
Not another everything-translator. One job: a conversation that works without a network and never leaves your phone.
* Based on the App Store listings and websites of the leading paid translator apps, September 2026.
Built for the long run
Prau is made for one thing: a conversation that works where there is no network and stays on your phone. Every release moves that forward.
Version 1.1 — Stream mode with live subtitles for lectures and TV, plus Siri and the Action Button — is out now, and the next release is already in the works.

How it works
Three steps, then it just works — anywhere.
- Pick a pair of languages
Tap the language buttons at the top. The first time, iOS offers to download the packs — confirm, and after that translation never needs a network.
- Tap the microphone and speak
Prau recognizes your words on the device, translates them and reads the translation aloud. The other person answers and hears their reply in their own language.
- Keep the conversation
Every conversation is saved automatically. Search it, reopen it, export it to TXT or PDF, share it. This part is free, always.
See it, not just read it
Every screen below is Prau 1.0 as it runs on an iPhone today.
Translation into your headphones
Connect AirPods or any headphones. The translation into your language plays quietly in your ear; the other person hears their language from the phone speaker.

Face-to-face mode
Put the phone between you. Each side sees the screen the right way up, in its own language, and speaks in turn. Made for a hotel desk, a pharmacy, a taxi or a shop.

One conversation per person — voice, photos and PDFs together
Every conversation is saved on your iPhone. Swipe a conversation right to rename it — “Hotel in Lisbon”, “Landlord”. Open it and tap “Continue this conversation”: new speech, photos and PDF pages land in the same thread, so one counterpart means one record, one summary, one export. Search across everything, export any conversation to TXT or PDF. And in any card, press and hold to select and copy a single word or phrase. Translation history, searching it, exporting and copying never require a subscription — not now, not later.

Summary written on your iPhone
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, get a short summary of a whole conversation — the key points in a few lines, written on the device and never sent anywhere.
Photos and PDFs
Point the camera at a menu, a sign, a document — or import a PDF. Text is recognized and translated on the device, laid out in readable paragraphs, exportable as PDF.

Voice conversations, offline
Speech recognition, translation and speech output run on the iPhone. Works on a plane, in the mountains, abroad without a SIM card, and anywhere the connection is poor.
Text and speech rate
Type instead of speaking when it is quieter. Slow the spoken translation down if the other person has trouble following. Choose the voice when the system offers more than one.
Stream: live subtitles for anything you hear
Foreign TV, a lecture, a guided tour, a station announcement — point your iPhone at the sound and read along in your language as it's spoken.
- Nothing to pressPrau listens continuously and writes the translation paragraph by paragraph, like subtitles.
- Offline, even in Airplane ModeRecognition and translation run on the iPhone — in a museum basement, on a train, abroad without a SIM.
- Into your headphonesRather listen than read? The translation plays quietly in your AirPods.
- Pause whenever you needOne tap and Prau stops listening; another tap and it carries on.
- Private by designThe audio never leaves your iPhone. No servers, no recordings sent anywhere.

Set up once, before the trip
Two things live inside iOS, not inside Prau. Do them at home on Wi-Fi — after that everything works with no network at all.
- Language packs for translation
Open Prau and pick your pair. iOS shows the “Required downloads” sheet — tap the arrow next to each language. Roughly 50–100 MB per language, once. Later you can add packs in Prau → Settings → Languages.
- Offline dictation for your voice
iPhone Settings → General → Keyboard → Dictation Languages. Add each language you will speak. If a language is missing from that list, add its keyboard once (Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard) — dictation follows automatically. iOS downloads the model in the background, usually within a day, fastest on Wi-Fi while charging. In Prau → Settings → Languages a green microphone means the language is ready.
- Headphones — optional
Connect AirPods or any headphones and choose “My language” in Prau Settings. Your translation plays quietly in your ear; the other person hears theirs from the phone speaker.
Text and photo translation don't need dictation at all — they work as soon as the packs are in.
19 languages, fully offline
English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese. Any pair among them.
Voice input works for languages whose offline dictation model is installed by iOS — a green microphone on the Languages screen shows which ones are ready. Text and photo translation work for all 19 in any case.

The microphone is crossed out for a language
Voice input needs the offline dictation model that iOS installs for that language. Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Dictation Languages: if the language is listed, iOS is already downloading the model in the background (usually within a day, best on Wi-Fi while charging). If it is not listed, add the keyboard for that language once — dictation switches on by itself. Until then, text and photo translation work fully.
The system 'Required downloads' sheet appears
That is Apple's Translation framework asking for the language packs. Tap the arrow next to each language; the download does not start until you tap. Once done, translation works offline forever.
Translation is slow or the translator isn't responding
This happens on the iOS side, usually right after a language pack was installed, and clears within a minute. If it keeps happening, restart the iPhone.
I paid, but Pro is not active
Open the paywall or Settings and tap Restore purchases. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, so they restore on any of your iPhones. If it still fails, write to us with the App Store receipt.
How do I cancel the subscription?
iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Prau. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the paid period.
Which iPhones are supported?
Any iPhone running iOS 18 or later. Conversation summaries additionally need Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro and newer) and a supported system language.
